Our Story

Lone smoker. One backyard. No grand plan.

This is not a business story. It's simply the story — the one that has got us here.

Early days at Baba's
Where It Began

No business plan.
Just a weekend hobby and a smoker that never went cold.

Baba didn't set out to start a company. Just to smoke something good. Weekends were for that — ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken — cooked low and slow the way it's supposed to be done. One smoker, backyard, no rush.

When 2020 came and the world went quiet, the smoker didn't. Neighbors started showing up. Then friends of neighbors. Then strangers who heard about it from someone who heard about it from someone else. None of that was planned. That's just what good food does.

The People Who Fueled Us To Go On

We showed up with smoked meat and said,
just try it.

Will Dasovich. James Deakin. Chito Miranda and Neri. Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina. KC Montero and Stephanie Dods. Candy Pangilinan, Kiray Celis, Gardo Versosa.

We brought the food. We asked for nothing but an honest reaction. What they did after — the posts, the stories, the word-of-mouth they put their names on — that was entirely their choice. Genuine people. Genuine reactions. No script.

If you see your name up there —

This note is for you. Not a caption. Not a press release. Just us, wanting you to know that what you did mattered more than you probably realize. You tasted our food and then you told people about it — and that small act of generosity is part of why we're still here. You allowed us to dream. We haven't forgotten that. We won't. From the pit (bottom) of our hearts, thank you.

The craft
2023

Stopped to get it right.

Frozen smoked meat is beautiful but fragile — expensive to ship, hard to store, difficult to share beyond a small radius. The craft was there. The reach wasn't.

So we stepped back. Spent two years quietly solving one problem: how to bottle the smoke without losing what makes it worth eating. No artificial preservatives. No liquid smoke. Just patience and research, the same way we approach the pit.

Refining the Craft — Texas, USA

Went to learn from the best. Came home to build something real.

We flew to Texas with one purpose — to train, to absorb, and to learn firsthand from pitmasters who have dedicated their lives to this craft. Every technique, every detail, every hard-earned lesson brought back home.

Came back with more than knowledge. Came back with a deeper respect for the fire, the wood, and the time it takes to do this honestly.

Same fire.
Now in a jar.

Baba's is back. The product ships now, shelf-stable, no shortcuts. The smoke is still real because Baba won't have it any other way. That hasn't changed. That will never change.
